Cross-border smuggling modules busted in Amritsar, six held: police

Amritsar Police Commissionerate has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against cross-border smuggling. In a series of operations, they busted two smuggling modules and arrested six persons. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Makhandeen, Rakesh, Chamkor Singh, and Jasbir Singh.

The police seized three PX 5.7×28mm TISAS Turkey pistols, two .30 bore pistols, one 9mm pistol, and 60 live cartridges from the accused. Additionally, they recovered 3.5 kg of heroin from their possession.

According to the police, the arrested persons were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and were receiving consignments near the Indo-Pak border. The accused operated under a cross-border handler.

The police registered three FIRs in connection with the case, including one under the Arms Act and two under the NDPS Act. The investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages.
