NCERT introduces new Class 9 English textbook Kaveri

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced a new English textbook for Class 9 titled “Kaveri”. The book has been developed under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

The newly introduced textbook replaces the previous Class 9 English textbooks “Beehive” and “Moments”. According to NCERT, the new book aims to provide a balanced mix of literature and learning experiences for students.

“Kaveri” includes a total of 16 texts, with contributions from both Indian and international authors. Eight of the texts are written by Indian authors while the remaining eight are from writers around the world.

The textbook is designed to strengthen language skills while also introducing students to diverse cultural perspectives. NCERT stated that the book reflects elements of Indian Knowledge Systems along with global literary works.

Education experts believe the new textbook will help students improve reading, comprehension and analytical thinking while learning English literature in a broader context.
