Punjab Cabinet Approves New University, Recruitment of 1,158 Assistant Professors in Government Colleges

The Punjab Cabinet has given approval for the establishment of a world-class Sri Guru Teg Bahadur University at Anandpur Sahib. The decision aims to strengthen higher education infrastructure in the state and provide improved learning opportunities for students.

Along with the new university, the cabinet has also approved the recruitment of 1,158 assistant professors and librarians in government colleges across Punjab. This step is expected to address faculty shortages and improve the quality of teaching in higher education institutions.

Officials stated that the recruitment drive will help colleges maintain better student-teacher ratios and enhance academic standards in government-run institutions.

In addition to education-related decisions, the cabinet also approved a new industrial policy designed to promote industrial development and attract investment to the state.

The combined initiatives are expected to support both educational growth and economic development in Punjab in the coming years.
